Why the plate is inked before anyone talks
People who buy speeches are disappointed in our room. The work is drawing. Nino inks a plate under a lamp that yellows the paper. Only then does Tamar agree a sitting. This order is stubborn on purpose.
What talk does to a week
If you describe Friday before you show Friday, the powerful person in the room will describe a different Friday. The clerk who kept the book will go quiet. We have watched this in more than one Tbilisi office. A plate that can be held — even a stained, crowded plate — gives the clerk a thing to point at. Pointing is not a presentation skill. It is a finger.
What paper does that a screen does not
A screen is refreshed and denied. A bound sheet in a canteen is gossiped about and remains. We are not romantic about paper; the cupboard on Kazbegi Avenue is a fire risk and we know it. We are practical. Supervisors pin what they can pin. Workforce productivity insights that cannot hang will not be argued with after we leave.
When we still use a photograph
Drafts go as photographs of the paper so a factual error can be caught before binding. The photograph is a proof, not the delivery. If a client frames the proof and skips the sitting, we still come for the sitting. The contract is the reading, not the file attachment.
Ink first. Then talk. The burnt edges on our old file copies are what happens to paper that was actually used.
